Designed
for: Those who wish
to learn shorthand on a flexible basis, for work in office
work or as a journalist
Pre-requisites:
The time to
do additional practise outside of study sessions (2 hours per week)
Course Objectives:
To learn the
theory of Teeline shorthand in 35 hours and be able to write speeds
between 30-60 wpm*
Course Content:
The flexible course is
divided into 14 lessons covering:
- The principles
of the Teeline method
- Reducing words
to their skeletons
- Short-cuts for
common words
- Writing common
groups of words together
- First writing it
fast - later reading back accurately
- Building your
skill to write at 40 wpm and beyond

trained previously on the Teeline system, and through a career break
or a lack of use at work, feel their skills on this popular shorthand
system need some revision
Pre-requisites:
Those who have
trained previously on the Teeline system, and through a career break
Course Objectives:
Renewed
confidence in Teeline skills as a key element to a working role
Course Content:
The flexible course is divided into 14 lessons
- Revision of the

- You can concentrate
on those areas that need strengthening

SPEED DEVELOPMENT:
SUITABLE FOR ALL
SHORTHAND SYSTEMS
Designed
for:
Individuals who
use any shorthand system and who wish to improve their speed
Course Objectives:
A steady
increase in speed, dexterity and confidence
Course Content:
- Use of dictation
material between 30 to 140 wpm, with varied content e.g. Literary,
parliamentary and company reports, commercial, general interest
etc.
- Additional practice
outside the time spent at the centre, with the use of Library
tapes or CDs.
- The opportunity to
attend a weekly tutor-led workshop to take a speed test.
- There is an
opportunity to take speed tests throughout the course, and a speed
certificate (at your best speed) will be issued on completion
It is an
accepted bench-mark that you need to invest 20 hours of practise for a
speed gain of 20 words per minute - however this needs to be regular
