girls, 3 pairs of sunglasses and 5 kilometres to conquer:
On
31st May 2009 our 3 intrepid runners, Lisa, Claire and Kaytan,
started out on the 5k run for Cancer Research UK's Race for Life
2009. They had made the decision earlier in the year to run in
memory of Lisa's grandmother and Claire's granddad who both sadly
passed away to Cancer related illnesses recently. A fun day was had
by all and Claire, Lisa and Kaytan raised
£642,
on a scorching hot day in the City. The girls managed to run and
walk the race in 46 minutes. Not bad for 3 girls that haven't run
for fun before!
Events like 'Race for
Life' are vital in funding Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work
into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. Cancer Research UK
is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer
research. They support research into all aspects of cancer through
the work of more than 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses. Over the
past 10 years alone, thousands of lives have been saved through
earlier detection and improved treatments.
